Design modeling of EU, EK, EP

Obtaining the Primary Energy (EP) indicator value required by law at the design stage is not only about meeting the criteria resulting from legal provisions.

It increasingly affects access to selective financing and obtaining more favorable conditions for obtaining it depending on the EP value obtained - which must be lower than the maximum value resulting from the Technical Conditions.

The lack of a broader perspective on EP at the design stage is related to a situation in which, at the stage of implementation or completion of the investment, when energy performance certificates are being prepared, we are not able to obtain its value at the level required, for example, by a bank to obtain a loan on more favorable terms.

To prevent such situations, it is important to develop the project at a stage where, depending on the selected solutions, not only in terms of insulation of partitions or selection of windows, but above all, HVAC installation solutions and energy carriers used, we are able to achieve lower values for the EP index than required by regulations.

This study is called designed energy performance. We perform this type of analysis strictly in accordance with the methodology specified in the regulations.

The calculations performed should include results characterizing the following indicators:

  • EP index value [kWh/(m²year)],
  • EK index value [kWh/(m²year)],
  • EU index value [kWh/(m²year)],

obligatorily taking into account: heating, DHW preparation, ventilation, cooling (if present in the building), installation of built-in lighting – only and exclusively for the buildings indicated in the methodology as those for which it must be calculated.

Additionally, this analysis includes:

  • U-values [W/m2K] of building partitions in the building,
  • gas emission values including: CO, CO2, SO2, NO2 and dust.
  • comparative analysis of building heat supply systems using high-efficiency systems using Renewable Energy Sources, taking into account investment and operating costs.

Service projects implemented by EBDN:

we prepare designed energy performance specifications in accordance with applicable regulations for:

  • residential buildings – single-family, multi-family,
  • public buildings,
  • industrial buildings,
  • office buildings,
  • commercial buildings,
  • multi-functional facilities.

We specialize in designing energy performance specifications for buildings with advanced and complex technical systems.
