DNSH

DNSH (do no significant harm) is the principle of not causing significant harm to the environment.

In practice, DNSH means not supporting or carrying out economic activities that cause significant harm to any environmental objective, within the meaning of Article 17 of Regulation (EU) 2020/852.

This regulation sets out the following environmental objectives:

  • mitigating climate change,
  • adaptation to climate change,
  • sustainable use and protection of water and marine resources,
  • transition to a circular economy,
  • pollution prevention and control,
  • protection and restoration of biodiversity and ecosystems.

Requirements for investors:

Presentation of analyses confirming that the detailed requirements in relation to the above-mentioned environmental objectives have been met by the implemented investment plans.

The scope of these analyses varies, depending on the nature of the investment and its technical parameters. Depending on the investment parameters, they may also be developed:

  • at the planning stage – as additional analyses,
  • after its implementation – as post-construction analyses or physical measurements confirming that the required criteria have been met.
